Our Fall to Christmas Dining Room Transformation

Hi friends! I apologize for my long absence. I was talking to Sean the other day and we were discussing how much I wanted to get back into blogging and what on earth could have caused such a pause in something that is so meaningful to me… And at that very moment, in walked my 20 month old, half dressed, pushing a monster truck across the kitchen floor equaling the same size of his entire body.

Oh yeah… that’s why. I love the babies but boy do they pause those first dreams to make room for them - your next best dream. Well, leave it to the fall season and fall weather to blow that cool air right back into my sails! I’m back, baby, and with holiday decor.

The fall dining room was as magical as it looks in photos. I’d like to argue even more magical. The rust curtains, the faux olive tree, and the fall stems all worked together to create this trifecta of fall elegance.

A couple thrifted photos were thrown up on the wall, and there you have it. A fall, romantic dining room set to the scene of our 1980’s colonial.

Now, I can not forget the subtle but oh-so important picture frame moulding that Sean installed only a few short days before these photos were taken. We dealt with a few imperfect wall situations, here and there (thank you very old house) but other than some small snafus, he made it work beautifully.

The chandelier is also a new addition to the space. I can’t even believe how well it looks over our dining room table. It honestly feels like it was always here. You’ll be able to see the old chandelier that now resides in the chicken coop! That hen house reveal is coming so soon!! Check out Instagram if you can’t even wait to see some chicken spam.

And of course, the newly painted black windows! I can NOT forget a DIY Tutorial for y’all on how those came together! So much to do. I’m happy to be back.

And without further ado (and because I don’t feel like writing a second blog just for the Christmas dining room): Here is the CHRISTMAS DINING ROOM.

Was that as a dramatic reveal for you as it was for me?? It takes my breath away each time and I’m literally sitting here in this very room looking at this very tree and I’m still in a Christmas Heaven.

The side to side view of these rooms hits in a fun place as well. It’s showing me the potential this space has to be dressed up any way she likes. It also shows me my own potential. And I’m loving learning about myself along my own journey.

The new curtains changed everything for this room. The rust orange were a fall dream but the plaid creates texture and interest while still remaining subtle and neutral. You will learn over the years while journeying with me that my heart is 100% pulled in a neutral position. You will see.

I placed our advent wreath on my grandmothers antique cake stand centered on the table. I love my grandmother so much and she is passing away at this point in time. This is a head-nod to her and helps me remember all of the Christmas memories I had at her house growing up.

Looking at these photos again reinforces my love for REAL greenery. I’m learning how to keep it fresh and take care of it properly so I’ll let you know if I come up with any tips and tricks along the way.

The wreath and garland on the light and around the Advent wreath are fresh from Home Depot. I paid about $25 and that was all I needed! Best $25 spent this year.

I had also been dying to switch the Goodwill art for more meaningful art and a photo of our family this year. Here’s the link to the Wise Men Vintage Art Print I found off of Etsy that I placed in the second photo frame.

These Goodwill sconces have slowly and slowly become one of my favorite finds of all time. For $8 each, these metal candle lights fixtures were a total steal. I adore the velvet ribbon around the neck for such a dainty Christmas feature.

I would never forget a picture of the fireplace, well, one of the THREE fireplaces. We are so blessed to have a fireplace in the current dining room which one day will be the new kitchen. I will definitely cry when it’s time to demo this space but we have several years until that day comes, and until then, can you even handle this dining room!?

Lest we forget, I must include a “before” for the people. Look how far she’s come. Here is a link to my Amazon Storefront containing all the items I used in both my Fall and Christmas dining rooms. ***These are affiliate links for all those purchasing and checking out my store - I say THANK YOU to you. It has been such a humbling experience opening the store. Happy shopping!
